Electricity supply and demand dynamics in Iran considering climate change-induced stresses

The impacts of climate change such as water scarcity and air temperature increase affect the development electricity supply system. In countries like Iran, where cooling demand in residential sector is high availability fairly low, this can create significant challenges. study, an econometric approach was used to project for four sectors considering effect changing temperature. Also, impact on optimal expansion power system investigated using TIMES, a bottom-up energy optimization modeling platform, build model Iranian with each plant unit modeled separately. option switching technology also included modeling. results show that fuel price alters capacity portfolio substantially. Renewables become more desirable under scenarios which fuels prices, well carbon taxes, are high. emissions all scenarios, although tax moderates increase. withdrawal declines scenarios. sensitivity analysis revealed parameter withdrawal.
